How to Choose the Right Toothbrush

In RADIUS on May 24, 2016 at 4:33 pm

Everybody’s mouth, teeth, gums and brushing techniques are different. So why, then, are most toothbrushes designed in a one-size-fits-all fashion?

When selecting a toothbrush, don’t just grab the first one you see in the drugstore aisle. Take a moment to think about which one will best fit your personal needs.

When you find the right toothbrush for you, you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes. Here are a few key considerations to help you find the best fit for you:

Effectiveness

A truly effective toothbrush should be able to remove plaque and other food debris that contribute to tooth decay without causing unnecessary damage to the delicate tissues of the gum. Medium and hard bristles push back the gum margins (where gum and tooth meet) exposing tooth surfaces, increasing sensitivity and causing irreparable damage including periodontal disease and cavities.

RADIUS® knows the best and most gentle way to clean is with softer bristles, which is why all of our toothbrushes are adorned with finer, longer, softer and more pliable bristles that reach every nook and cranny of your mouth without aggravating the gum line.

Comfort & control

We believe a toothbrush is no good if using it doesn’t feel good.

Making toothbrushes that provide a cleaning experience worth savoring is what we live for, because the bottom line is, when brushing becomes a pleasure not a chore, you’ll naturally start taking better care of your teeth.

Our toothbrushes don’t just clean your teeth. The softer bristles and unique brush head design massage and invigorate your entire mouth. And the smart handles are meticulously crafted for the perfect grip and reach.

Whether you’re one year old or 100, left or right handed, a vigorous brusher or a light touch — the RADIUS toothbrush provides you with a more customized and comfortable brushing experience for life.

Design

The architects who designed the RADIUS range of toothbrushes are professional sticklers for elegant design. Their unique aesthetic is more than a reflection of functionality — it’s a style statement. After all, you use your toothbrush twice a day, so why not feel a little more fabulous when you do?

As effective as they are beautiful, our unique products are defined by bright, bold colors and delightful details. In short, RADIUS products don’t just work better, they look nicer too. We want you to love them, because the more you love them, the more you’ll use them.

ADA acceptance

Did you know, ever since The American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Acceptance program began in 1931, toothbrushes in America have undergone a thorough screening process by the ADA?

Manufacturers voluntarily submit their products for testing by ADA laboratory staff, who evaluate them with the help of more than 150 scientists — experts in dental materials, microbiology, pharmacology, toxicology, and chemistry.

What are they looking for?

          • Objective clinical and/or laboratory studies that demonstrate safety and effectiveness
          • FDA-approved ingredients
          • Manufacturing standards that assure purity and uniformity
          • Packaging and advertising claims that are supported by the science.
After passing the stringent research tests they are awarded “ADA ACCEPTED” accreditation — the official dentist’s stamp of approval. We’ve put a great deal of thought into making our designs not just meet, but exceed, expectations, and we’re proud to say that most RADIUS toothbrushes carry the ADA seal.

RADIUS Receives Presidential Award for Export Successes

Kutztown, PA — U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker today presented RADIUS Corporation with the President’s “E” Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington, DC. The President’s “E” Award is the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.

“RADIUS has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export expansion. The “E” Awards Committee was very impressed with RADIUS’ innovative dental hygiene products. The company’s pursuit of export markets as the key to its business growth was also particularly notable. RADIUS’ achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs,” said Secretary Pritzker in her congratulatory letter to the company announcing its selection as an award recipient.

RADIUS, established in 1983, is a certified women-owned consumer products company. It is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of specialty toothbrushes, toothpastes, and complementary personal care products, including travel cases and dental floss. RADIUS is a leader in the natural products industry in personal care and is renowned for its combination of innovative designs, premium materials, and eco-conscious manufacturing that redefines ordinary personal care products with the goal of enhancing the quality and enjoyment of everyday routines.

Today RADIUS is proud to be one of the only toothbrush manufacturers still operating in the United States that still manufacturers on its own injection molding and bristling machines. RADIUS is now certified women-owned and completely vertically integrated; designing, manufacturing, and inspecting all of its products by hand. RADIUS operates and manufactures in a restored feed mill in Kutztown, PA on solar powered machines. Parallel goals of promoting energy-efficient manufacturing and a focus on a clean and cutting-edge design presence sets RADIUS apart from the rest.

E-Awards-Saskia-2016

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker presents RADIUS CEO and President Saskia Foley with the President’s “E” Award in Washington D.C. on May 16, 2016

“RADIUS is incredibly proud and honored to receive the President’s E-award for excellence and stewardship of exporting to other regions around the world. RADIUS was the only company in the state of Pennsylvania to receive this prestigious award and is excited to have been recognized as one of a select number of companies truly impacting and growing the American economy with the export of its quality products. In an era of massive imports into the United States, RADIUS believes supporting America’s export economy is an incredibly important aspect of its business structure and will continue to grow in this area for years to come. The continued efforts of the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Commercial Service to aid American-made small businesses like RADIUS in exporting goods and services ab road and to create new trade agreements in an attempt to help sustain economic growth in exports is one example of what makes America great and we feel the support to the core of our business. We know we have support and that the more we export, the more jobs and skills it will bring to our local community and to USA overall. RADIUS has seen incredible exponential growth in its export channel and we truly believe that this is the way of the future. We believe that “made in the USA” is a true asset and the quality, uniqueness of design and craftsmanship of our products should be accessible to customers around the globe. We will continue on our mission to attain that goal,” CEO and President, Saskia Foley said.

In 1961, President Kennedy signed an executive order reviving the World War II “E” symbol of excellence to honor and provide recognition to America’s exporters. Today, Secretary Pritzker honored 123 U.S. companies with the President’s “E” Award for their outstanding work to reduce barriers to foreign markets and to open the door to more trade around the world.

In 2015, U.S. exports totaled $2.23 trillion, accounting for nearly 13 percent of U.S. GDP. Nationally, exports contributed to the U.S. economy, supporting an estimated 11.5 million jobs.

U.S. companies are nominated for the “E” Awards through the Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service office network, located within the Department’s International Trade Administration, with offices in 108 U.S. cities and more than 70 countries.  Record years of successive export growth and an applicant’s demonstration of an innovative international marketing plan that led to the increase in exports is a significant factor in selecting the winners.

A USA Factory Powered by Sunshine

In RADIUS on May 6, 2016 at 12:36 pm
We put as much thought into the making of RADIUS® products as we do the design of them.

Almost 30 years ago, we bought and renovated a historic feed mill in Kutztown, Pennsylvania not far from the storied steel plants of Bethlehem.

We make, package and ship all our products from this facility in small batches, keeping complete control over production from start to finish to ensure quality stays up to our standards – the best of the best.

In March 2011, we went a step further, installing a 50,000 Kilowatt solar-panel
system on the factory roof. Each year since, RADIUS has been able to generate enough electricity to power roughly 15 homes straight from the Pennsylvania sun, offsetting 210 metric tons of carbon, the equivalent of 45 acres of healthy trees. Thanks to ultra-efficient machinery and savvy production schedules, solar power accounts for more than 67%, or more than two-thirds, of electricity at the RADIUS plant.

We might be a small company, but our efforts are big in this right. To compare, Wal-Mart has 335 renewable energy projects in operation or under development, however, solar power still only accounts for about 25% of its electricity. While commercial solar projects are typically concentrated in sunnier climates like those of California and Arizona or states with major incentive programs, like Massachusetts, we make every one of our panels count.

We’re almost as proud of our plant as we are of its products. Clean teeth and clean air – our stock in trade.
